World Browser Live Privacy Policy
1. Overview & Scope
This Privacy Policy governs your use of our World Browser Live application (the “App”).
The App is entirely free to use and requires no account registration, login, email address, phone number or user identity creation.
We collect location data solely to deliver core map positioning functionality.
This policy complies with Apple App Store requirements, EU GDPR, California CCPA/CPRA, COPPA and other applicable European and North American data protection regulations.
By downloading and opening the App, you acknowledge you have read and agree to this Privacy Policy. If you disagree with any terms herein, please uninstall the App immediately.
2. What Data We Collect & Purposes of Collection
2.1 Precise / Approximate Location Data
When you grant location permission via the iOS system prompt (Allow While Using App / Don’t Allow):
The App accesses your device GPS coordinates (precise location) or approximate regional location, only while the App is active and running in the foreground.
Background location access will not be activated automatically; you may manually enable background location in iOS device Settings if needed.
Purposes for collecting location data:
Center the real-world map view on your current geographic position;
Load surrounding roads, terrain and landmarks matching your live location;
Support basic map navigation, pan and zoom reference functions.
2.2 Advertising Related Identifiers (Optional Consent Only)
The App may display advertisements in future updates. We may access Apple’s Identifier for Advertising (IDFA) for personalized ad delivery, subject to your explicit opt-in choice via Apple’s App Tracking Transparency (ATT) pop-up:
If you select Allow Tracking: We may collect IDFA to serve targeted, interest-based advertisements within the App.
If you select Ask App Not to Track: We will not access or use your IDFA for ad targeting, and only non-personalized generic ads will be displayed.
You may update your tracking permission preference at any time via iOS Settings > Privacy & Security > Tracking.
2.3 No Other Personal Data Collected
We confirm we do not gather the following information under any circumstances:
Account credentials, username, password, full name, mailing address, phone number or email;
Permanent device identifiers such as IDFV, MAC address or device serial number for non-advertising tracking;
Photos, camera footage, microphone audio, calendar entries, health records or contact lists;
Payment information, credit card data, subscription or in-app purchase records (no paid features currently available);
User behavior logs, browsing profiles or session analytics unrelated to map rendering and advertising as disclosed above.
2.4 Live Camera / Webcam Content from Third-Party Windy
Our global live real-time camera (live webcam) feature is fully powered by Windy, an independent third-party weather & live camera service provider.
All live video streams, camera image footage, camera geographic coordinates and camera metadata displayed within the App are sourced directly from Windy’s public database.
When you browse or view live camera feeds on the map, your device will send anonymized geographic grid requests to Windy’s servers to load matching nearby camera resources. No raw personal GPS location will be shared with Windy unless required to match nearby live cameras, and all location signals sent to Windy are anonymized and cannot identify individual users.
3. How We Store & Process Collected Data
3.1 Location Data Handling
All real-time location coordinates are processed locally on your iPhone or iPad first:
Live GPS positioning calculations run on-device; raw precise location data will not be continuously uploaded to our servers.
Temporary location cache used to render the map view is stored exclusively within the App’s local sandbox and automatically erased once you fully close the App.
When loading map graphics, your device sends anonymized geographic tile requests to our map service backend. These requests only contain geographic grid codes without your exact GPS coordinates and cannot be linked to any identifiable individual.
Anonymized map tile server logs are automatically purged within 7 calendar days and never archived permanently.
3.2 Advertising Identifier Handling
IDFA data is only retrieved after your explicit ATT opt-in consent and will not be combined with your temporary location cache to create cross-profile user records.
Advertising partners receive only the IDFA (if permitted) without access to your precise geographic location data.
3.3 Data Retention Rules
Local temporary location cache: Deleted instantly upon full App termination.
Anonymous map tile server logs: Auto-deleted within 7 days.
Advertising tracking signals: We do not permanently store IDFA on our servers; ad delivery partners retain tracking data per their own privacy policies, which you may review separately.
4. Third-Party Data Sharing & Disclosure
We never sell, rent or trade your identifiable location data to third parties for commercial purposes. Limited data transfers only occur under the following scenarios with strict data protection agreements in place:
Map rendering service providers: Receive anonymized geographic tile grid data only, with no access to raw GPS coordinates. All processors are bound by GDPR-compliant data processing contracts and prohibited from repurposing geographic signals for unrelated use.
Advertising service partners: If you grant tracking consent, we share your IDFA with ad providers to deliver personalized advertisements. If you opt out of tracking, no advertising identifiers will be shared. All ad partners are required to comply with Apple ATT rules and regional data protection laws.
Legal mandatory disclosure: We may disclose anonymized aggregated data only when compelled by valid court orders, official law enforcement requests, or to defend our legal rights, without disclosing information that can identify a specific individual user.
No other third-party analytics, crash reporting or social login SDKs are integrated into the App.
5. User Controls Over Permissions & Tracking
You retain full control over all data collection permissions through your iOS system Settings at all times:
5.1 Location Services Control
Path: iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services → [Your Map App Name]
Available options:
Allow While Using App (default requested permission)
Don’t Allow: Disables live location marker; basic static map browsing remains available
Precise Location toggle: Disable to share only approximate regional location instead of exact GPS coordinates
5.2 App Tracking Control (Advertising Targeting)
Upon first launch of ad-supported versions, an official Apple ATT pop-up will request your consent to access IDFA for personalized ads;
You may switch tracking permission anytime via iOS Settings > Privacy & Security > Tracking;
Revoking tracking consent will only disable personalized ads and will not impact core map location functionality.
6. GDPR Rights for EEA / UK / Switzerland Residents
If you reside within the European Economic Area, United Kingdom or Switzerland, you hold the following data subject rights:
Right to Access: Request a copy of all temporary location and advertising tracking data linked to your device;
Right to Erasure: Request full deletion of all local cached location records and cease all ad tracking data transmission;
Right to Restrict Processing: Request suspension of location data processing or advertising identifier collection;
Right to Object: Fully opt out of location collection (via location permission toggle) and personalized advertising (via ATT tracking opt-out);
Right to Data Portability: Request anonymized cached location data in machine-readable format;
Right to Lodge a Complaint: Contact your local data protection authority (DPA) if you believe we have violated applicable data protection regulations.
Submit all GDPR data rights requests to [Your Privacy Email]. We will respond free of charge within 30 business days.
7. CCPA / CPRA Rights for California Users
For users located in California, United States:
We do not sell your geolocation data to third parties. We may share your advertising identifier (IDFA) with ad service providers for targeted advertising only if you explicitly opt in via Apple ATT prompt.
8. Data Security
We implement industry-standard technical and organizational safeguards to protect all collected data:
Full iOS sandbox isolation for local location cache storage;
End-to-end HTTPS encryption for all network requests to map and advertising backend servers;
No unencrypted local storage of temporary geographic coordinates;
Role-based access control for all cloud server data storage;
Periodic internal security reviews to mitigate unauthorized data access risks.
No electronic storage or data transmission method can guarantee absolute security, but we minimize data collection scope and exposure risks by design.
9. Children’s Privacy (COPPA Compliance)
This App is not designed or marketed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect geolocation data or advertising tracking identifiers from users below 13 years old. If you are a parent or legal guardian and believe your minor child has provided location or tracking data through the App, contact our privacy email immediately to request permanent data deletion.
10. Updates to This Policy
We may revise this Privacy Policy periodically to reflect App feature upgrades (including advertising function rollout) or updated legal compliance requirements. Material policy changes will be published on our public privacy webpage, and the “Last Updated” date at the top of this document will be updated accordingly. Your continued use of the App after the effective date of revised terms constitutes your acceptance of the updated Privacy Policy.
